When a multi-product factory operates at full capacity, decisions must be made about which products to emphasize. In making such decisions, products should be ranked based on its contribution margin per unit of the constraining resource. This happens in a company who would produce a number of products and these products would experience a constraint. This type of contribution margin is the contribution margin per unit of a product divided by the resource that is constrained in producing the product. This is a useful tool in determining how to utilize the constrained resources. These resources can be materials, facilities, labor hours or machine hours.

Assume that you plan to open a soft ice-cream franchise in a resort community during the summer months. Fixed operating costs fo
ziro4ka [17]

Answer:

$2.45

Explanation:

Fixed cost = $9,800

Variable cost:

= Units sold × (cost of the ice cream and cone + franchise fee)

= 24000 × ($0.76 + $0.24)

= $24,000

So,

total cost = Fixed cost +  Variable cost

               = $9,800 + $24,000

               = $33,800

Profit = $25,000

Now,

Sales = $58,800

Sales unit = 24,000

So,

Sales price per unit:

= $58,800 ÷ 24,000

= $2.45

Hence, the price one should charge for each ice cream cone to achieve a $25,000 profit for the three-month period is $2.45.

Maru [420]

Answer:

(a) Go down

(b) Decrease

(c) Increase

Explanation:

a) In a perfect competition (PC) market, all market participants are price-takers. In other words, if a company decides to raise price of its current product, customers can easily switch to another substitute which is offered by another seller in the market. Thus, in a PC market, computer prices over time will go down.

b) Even though computer firms are reaping high profits, in the long-run, however, the profit will decrease because new companies will enter the market and offer customers a similar quality but lower price products. It is due to the nature of a PC market, where there is no barrier to entry.

c) Number of computer firm in the market over time will increase because there are no barriers that hinder the entrance of new computer firms from entering the market.
