Answer:

x = -4y/7 + 51/7

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you add all the numbers without variables and are on the same side.

7x - 4 + 4y + 8 = 55

Then you do the opposite sign (for example the opposite of addition is subtraction) of the two numbers without variables on the left side to add them to the right side(what you do on one side of the equation you must do on the other.

4x - 4 + 4 + 4y + 8 - 8 = 55 + 4 - 8

4x + 4y = 51

Then you get the x by itself by doing the same thing you did with the last step by this time with 4y.  Because this has a variable, you don't add it onto the 51, but add as a different number.

4x + 4y - 4y = 51 - 4y

4x = -4y + 51

Now to isolate the x, you divide 4x by 4.

4x/4 = -4y/7 + 51/7

x = -4y/7 + 51/7

Your answer is x = -4y/7 + 51/7

A group of statistics students decided to conduct a survey at their university to find the average (mean) amount of time student
Butoxors [25]

Answer: (21.541,\ 23.059)

Step-by-step explanation:

The confidence interval for population mean is given by :-

\overline{x}\pm z_{\alpha/2}\dfrac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

Given : Sample size : n=240 , which is a large sample , so we apply z-test .

Sample mean : \overline{x}=22.3

Standard deviation : \sigma= 6

Significance level : \alpha=1-0.95=0.05

Critical value : z_{\alpha/2}=1.960

Now, a confidence interval at the 95% level of confidence will be :-

22.3\pm(1.960)\dfrac{6}{\sqrt{240}}\\\\\approx22.3\pm0.759\\\\=(22.3-0.759,\ 22.3+0.759)\\\\=(21.541,\ 23.059)
