Answer:

D) x=\frac{-2+-2\sqrt{7} }{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

The quadratic formula is : \frac{-b+-\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a}

A in terms of this question=9

B in terms of the question is 12

C in terms of the question is -24.

This question is an example of a quadratic equation. To work this out you may first need a calculator. The first step is to substitute the values of a,b and c into the formula.  So once substituted the formula of \frac{-b+-\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a} becomes \frac{(-12)+-\sqrt{(12)^2-4*(9)*(-24)} }{2(9)}. Although when written in a calculator there will not be a plus and minus button and so you would have to do this separately.

However when substituting the values it would be best practice to put them in brackets.

1) Substitute the values into the equation for +.

\frac{(-12)+\sqrt{(12)^2-4*(9)*(-24)} }{2(9)}=\frac{-2+2\sqrt{7} }{3} /1.097167541

2) Substitute the values into the equation for -.

\frac{(-12)-\sqrt{(12)^2-4*(9)*(-24)} }{2(9)}=\frac{-2+2\sqrt{7} }{3} /-2.430500874

The line with equation y=my+b is perpendicular to the line with equation y=16 - x/3. The value of m is ____?
sweet-ann [11.9K]

Answer:

m=3

Step-by-step explanation:

Perpendicular lines intersect at 90 degrees or perpendicular angles. As such, their slopes are related. The slope of each line is the negative reciprocal of the other. For the equation, y=16-\frac{x}{3}. The slope or m=-\frac{1}{3}. This means the slope of the other line will be the negative reciprocal which is -(-3)=3

The value of y is directly proportional to the value of x.If y=35 when x=140, what is the value of y when x=70
Elodia [21]
Y varies x
Invite the constant
y = kx
Kx/x = y/x
K = y/x
Slot in the values
K = 35/140
= 1/4 or 0.25

What is the value of y when x=70
y=kx
y = 35/140 x 70/1
y = 35/2
y = 17 1/2 or 17.5

mixer [17]

Answer:

17/2

Step-by-step explanation:\

7 3/2 is equal to 17/2 because 2 x 7 is 14 and 14+3 is 17 and you keep the dem so its 17/2 and you cant simplify so it just becomes 7 3/2. i hope this helped.
