It can be said that grammatically the correct answer would be itself because we are referring to an object and not to a person. However, in the case of the <span>Bicentennial Man." the robot is personified, in fact, it seems to be alive and it possesses human characteristics and behavior so if you use himself, it is not completely wrong,  that would depend on the interpretation you get from the movie.
