The extra time in college required to become a sports physician is most likely due to the importance and vitality of a sports physician. Although it is a doctor's job to control the damage that has been done, it is a sports physician's job to make sure to prevent these damages from occuring in the first place. Therefore, in order for the sports physician to do his/her in a proper manner, it is important to spend more time studying for the profession itself.
