so to start it would be written as this.
___=30% x 60

meaning what equals 30% of 60.

x means of
___ means what

•so for example if you have this question written out, it would be - what is 30% of 60, and that would turn into the first equation by a substitution method.
• then you have to put the 30% as a decimal. (0.3)
now the equation looks like this.
___=0.3 x 60
• then you would turn it around so it’s 0.3 x 60=

now the answer to that equation is 18.
• so now you have to take the original 60, and subtract the answer amount of 18.

that would look like this. 60-18=___
