<h3><u>Option A</u></h3>

4 x^{2}+32 x-80=0 is the required equation to calculate width of rectangular frame that has a total area of 140 square inches.

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Given that,

Length of a rectangular frame is given as 2x + 10

Width of the rectangular frame is given as 2x + 6

Total area = 140 square inches

<em><u>The area of rectangular frame is given as:</u></em>

\text {area of rectangle}=\text {length } \times \text {width}

Plugging in values, we get

\begin{array}{l}{(2 x+10)(2 x+6)=140} \\\\ {4 x^{2}+12 x+20 x=80} \\\\ {4 x^{2}+32 x-80=0}\end{array}

This is the required equation to calculate width of rectangular frame

Solve the above quadratic equation to get the value of "x"

4 x^{2}+32 x-80=0

<em><u>Use the quadratic equation formula:</u></em>

x=\frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^{2}-4 a c}}{2 a}

Here a = 4 ; b = 32 ; c = -80

x=\frac{-32 \pm \sqrt{32^{2}-4(4)(-80)}}{2(4)}

x=\frac{-32 \pm \sqrt{2304}}{8}

x = 2 or x = -10

Now measurement cannot be negative, so taking the positve value of "x", we can calculate the width

So put "x" = 2

Width of the rectangular frame = 2x + 6 = 2(2) + 6 = 10

Thus the width of frame is 10 inches

"If two cards are drawn at random without replacement from a standard deck, find the probability that the second card is a face
PolarNik [594]

Answer:

C. P(F|Q) = \dfrac{11}{51}

Step-by-step explanation:

it is to be noted that the question is only asking for the probability of the 2nd card given that the first card was queen (P(F|Q)), and not asking for the probability of 1st card to be queen and 2nd card to be faced cardP(Q\,\text{and}\,F)

we can represent it in an expression:

P(Q\,\text{and}\,F) = P(Q)P(F|Q)

here P(Q) is the first event: Queen

and P(F|Q) is the second event: Faced card, given that the Queen is taken

--------------------------------

we only need to know what is P(F|Q), and that can be found directly found:

let's start with P(Q), what is the probability that the first card is a Queen? Well, there are 4 queens in a standard deck of 52 cards, so the probability should be:

P(Q) = \dfrac{4}{52}

now we have taken our queen, but we haven't put it back in the deck. so the amount of cards in the deck now are 51.

let's calculate P(F|Q),now that one queen is taken out, what is the probability of the next card to be a faced card? Well, in a standard deck there are 12 faced cards, but in our case one queen is already taken out, so there are 11 faced cards in our deck!

P(F|Q) = \dfrac{11}{51}

and this our answer!

Here is a set of numbers , 10,10,10,10,11,12,13,15,17,find the mode, the median , the mean b there is a mistake in the set of nu
Georgia [21]

First, find the mode, median, and mean of the given set of numbers.

<u>Mode</u>

The mode is the number that shows up frequently within the given set. In this case, it will be 10, as it shows up 4 times, 3 times more than any other number.

Mode: 10

~

<u>Median</u>

The median is the number that is in the middle of the given set. In this case, there are 9 numbers, and so the 5th given number is your median:

10 , 10 , 10 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 15 , 17

Median: 11

~

<u>Mean</u>

The mean is combining all numbers within the given set and dividing by the amount of numbers in that said set:

(10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 13 + 15 + 17)/9 = 108/9 = 12

Mean: 12
