Answer:

The chart shows the total number of individuals across the world who are defined as undernourished.

Globally we see a falling – although variable – trend over the last few decades. The total number of undernourished has been steadily falling. However, over the last few years, the total number increased by around 40 million, reaching 821 million in 2017.

The UN FAO have linked this increase in undernourishment in particular to the rising extent of conflict-affected countries (which is often a leading cause of famine), and compounded by climate-related factors such as the El Niño phenomenon (which can inflict both drought and flood conditions).3,4

Global number of people who are undernourished

Total number of people who are defined as undernourished. An individual is considered to be undernourished when

dietary energy consumption is less than a pre-determined threshold. This threshold is country specific and is measured

in terms of the number of kilocalories required to conduct sedentary or light activities.

The core of a mountain range that formed during regional metamorphism would contain a _____ metamorphic facies.
irinina [24]

Answer:

The answer is below

Explanation:

Most metamorphic rocks are formed from regional metamorphism. When two plates collide, it causes the release of large amount of pressure, this causes a deformation (folding and faulting) of the rock. As a result of the collision, the denser plate may be forced under the less dense plate thereby causing the rock to fall deep where they are subjected to high pressure and temperature.

Regional metamorphism produces green schist facies, amphibolite facies and granulite facies.

Mountains act as major climatic barriers with the sheltered or __________ side receiving less moisture than the exposed side. co
vfiekz [6]

Answer:

Leeward

Explanation:

Mountains can act as a climatic barrier by blocking prevailing winds and trade winds from getting to the other side of the mountain.

The area that faces the winds is called the windward side. This side receives most of the moisture picked up by the winds from the oceans. This is why it is wetter on this side.

The LEEWARD side is a lot drier because the mountain blocks most of it and as the winds climb up the mountain, most of the moisture is well spent and fall on the windward side. By the time the wind gets to the other side of the mountain, they are dried up already. The leeward side is the area that faces away from the wind.
