2(3x - 4) = 9(8 + 5x)

Mutiply the first bracket by 2

(2)(3x)(2)(-4)= 6x-8

Mutiply the second bracket by 9

(9)(8)(9)(5x)= 72+45x

6x-8= 72+45x

move -8 to the other side , sign becomes +8

6x-8+8= 72+8+45x

6x= 72+8+45x

6x= 80+45x

move +45x to the other side , sign becomes -45x

6x-45x= 80+45x-45x

6x-45x= 80

-39x= 80

divide both sides by -39

-39x/-39= 80/-39

x= -80/39 or x=-2 2/39

Answer: x= -80/39 or x=-2 2/39

Answer:

x=-80/39

Step-by-step explanation:

We have the equation:

2(3x - 4) = 9(8 + 5x)

first we multiply 2 by (3x - 4) in the left side, and multiply 9 by (8 + 5x) in the right side:

6x-8=72+45x

now we move all terms with x to the left, and all independent terms to the right:

6x-45x=72+8\\-39x=80

finally we divide by (-39) both sides of the equation:

\frac{-39x}{-39}=\frac{80}{-39}  \\x=-\frac{80}{39}

making this division we get:

x=-2.0513

or you can just leave the answer as x=-80/39

A 40-foot ladder is leaning against a wall. To use the ladder safely, the angle between the wall and the ladder must be no more
svetoff [14.1K]

Answer:

No,because the angle between the wall and the ladder is 17.45°

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's first outline the parameters in this particular question

--- the angle between the wall and ladder is 15°

--- the ladder is 40 foot tall

---the bottom of the ladder is placed 12 feet from the wall.

With the above,we can conclude that the ladder placed against the wall formed a shape that has the look of a right angle triangle, where the length if the ladder is the hypotenuse, the distance between the foot of the ladder and the wal is the adjacent, and the height of ladder against the wall is unknown.

Let's now try to find the value of the unknown (in this case,the opposite of that triangle shape formed)

Using Pythagorean theorem, where c = √(a² + b²)

(C is the hypotenuse, a and b are the adjacent and opposite respectively)

40² = 12² + x²

X² = 40² - 12²

X² = 1456

X = √1456

X = 38.2

Now to find the angle made by the wall and the ladder

Tan x = opp/adj

Tan x = 12/38.2

Tan x = 0.3141

X = tan inverse of 0.3141

X = 17.45°(the angle between the wall and the ladder)

In the figure shown, line AB is parallel to line CD. Part A what is the measure of angle x. Part b explain how you found the mea
Lemur [1.5K]

Answer:

Part A

x is 46°

Part B

Alternate angles are angles that are in relatively opposite locations relative to a transversal

Please see attached diagram showing alternate angles

Step-by-step explanation:

Part A

∠DRP  = 110° (Given)

∠QPA = 64° (Given)

∠QPR =

Given that AB is parallel to CD, we have;

∠DRP is congruent to ∠APR (Alternate angles to a transversal RP of parallel lines AB and CD)

Therefore, ∠APR = 115°

∠APR = ∠QPA + ∠QPR (Angle addition postulate)

∴ 115° = 64° +  ∠QPR

∠QPR = 110° - 64° = 46°

x = 46°

Part B.

Given that AB is parallel to CD, the lines common (that intersects) both lines are the transversal lines

The angles formed between the parallel lines and the transversal lines have special relationships based on their position with respect to each other

In the question, the angle 110° given between CD and the transversal RP, is found to at an alternate position to the angle ∠APR between the same transversal RP and AB and given that alternate angles are always equal, angle ∠APR is therefore also equal to 110°.
