Answer:

26+32=10v

add numbers

58=10v

10v=58

divide both sides by 10

v=5.8

There will be 6 vans needed

58/6=9.6

There will be 10 students in four vans, and 9 students in two vans.

The sum of the first n terms of an arithmetic sequence is n/2(4n + 20).
lesantik [10]

Answer:

(a).

S_{n} =  \frac{n}{2} (4n + 20) \\  \\S _{n - 1} =  \frac{(n - 1)}{2} (4n - 4 + 20) \\  \\ S _{n - 1} =  \frac{(n - 1)}{2} (4n + 16) \\  \\S _{n - 1} = \frac{(n - 1)(4n + 16)}{2}  \\   \\  { \boxed{S _{n - 1} =  {2 {n}^{2} + 6n - 8}}} \\

(b).

from general equation:

S _{n - 1} =  \frac{(n - 1)}{2} (4n + 16)

first term is 4n

common difference:

16 =  \{(n - 1) - 1 \}d \\ 16 = (n - 2)d \\ d =  \frac{16}{n - 2}

Solve 3x^2 = −12x − 15.
vitfil [10]
3x^2+12x+15=0

Then divide by 3 to get the x by itself.
x^2+4x+5=0

Factor to (x+5) (x-1) and solve for the two values of x.

Solve x+12/x+4=×/x+8
Morgarella [4.7K]
Cross multiply...
Thus,
x(x+4)=(x+12)(x+8)
expand...
x^2+4x=x^2+8x+12x+96
Simply both sides of the equation.
x^2+4x=x^2+20x+96
simply further by adding ask like terms...
-16x=96
Solve for x by making x the subject.
therefore
x=-6.

Write the expression nine divided by the quantity of x plus y
seropon [69]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  \text{A)}\quad\dfrac{9}{x+y}

Step-by-step explanation:

In the English expression, you need to understand that "A divided by B" means that A is the numerator and B is the denominator of the fraction representing the division. Here, "B" is "the quantity of ...", which means that the stuff after "of ..." is to be treated as a single item, the denominator in this case. That item is "x plus y." So, the expression in math terms is ...

  \dfrac{9}{x+y}

When this is written in plain text, the "quantity" is put in parentheses, because the fraction bar no longer serves as a grouping symbol:

  9/(x+y)

These expressions match the first choice, A.
