Distance means amount of space between two things or two people.  displacement means moving something from its place or position. they both have the prefix dis.

Distance is a scalar quantity that refers to "how much ground an object has covered" during its motion.

Pigments are molecules that absorb specific colors of light and reflect other colors, depending on their chemical structure. The reflected colors are what give pigments their color.
