Biology

The correct answer is: Events that occur early in the fossil record are represented by branching events nearer to the root of a phylogenetic tree.

Fossil records explain the history and evolution of life based on fossils. Fossils are remains of organisms preserved in sedimentary rock. In fossil records they are analyzed and arranged chronologically and in taxonomic order, so that can represent the evolution.

Phylogenies describes the relationships between organisms (species): from which organisms it is evolved, to which species it is most closely related etc. and it is represented as a diagram or phylogenetic tree. It is used to organize living organisms into specific categories. Characteristics of fossils are used to generate a phylogenetic tree, more precisely their roots that represent common ancestors.

A gene that controls betacarotene production has been successfully inserted into a common food crop. Name the technique used to
madam [21]

Answer:

The technique that is used in inserting a gene into a crop is genetic modification.

What is genetic modified crop?

A genetically modified organism (GMO) is a living organism whose DNA has been altered using genetic engineering techniques.

Humans have used breeding methods to modify organisms for thousands of years. Over generations, corn, cattle, and even dogs have been selectively bred to have certain desired traits.

The majority of GMO crops grown today were developed to assist farmers in preventing crop and food loss and controlling weeds.

The following are the most common traits found in GMO crops: Resistance to certain harmful insects, and Tolerance to certain weed-controlling herbicides.

Thus, with the help of genetic modification, a gene that controls beta-carotene production can be successfully inserted into a common food crop.

in order to keep a resting membrane potential, the active transport of the sodium and potassium pump must function to keep:
krek1111 [17]

The active transport of the sodium and potassium pump must work to maintain: A high concentration of sodium outside the cell and a high concentration of potassium inside the cytosol in order to maintain a resting membrane potential.

Active transport in cellular biology refers to the movement of molecules or ions across a cell membrane against the concentration gradient from a location of lower concentration to a region of higher concentration. Cellular energy is needed for active transport to achieve this movement.

The electrical potential differential across the plasma membrane of a cell during its non-excited condition is referred to as the resting membrane potential of the cell. The value of the electrical potential difference inside a cell compared to the extracellular environment is often used to indicate the difference across a cell membrane.
