Using the expression (a + b)² = a² + a b + b² , expand the expression
4(4p² + 12p q + 9q²) - (5p - q) x (7p + 11q)
now multiply the parenthesis
4(4p² + 12p q + 9q²) - (35p² + 55p q - 7 p q - 11q²)
now distribute 4 through the parenthesis
16p² + 48p q + 36q² - (35p² + 55p q - 7 p q - 11q²)
now collect the like terms
16p² + 48p q + 36q² - (35p² + 48p q - 11q²)
next,, when there is a "-" sign in front of the parenthesis change the sign of each term in the parenthesis
16p² + 48p q + 36q² - 35p² - 48p q + 11q²
now eliminate the opposites
16p² + 36q² - 35p² + 11q²
then collect the like terms
-19p² + 36q² + 11q²
finally,, collect the last set of like terms
-19p² + 47q²
since you cannot simplify this expression any further,, the answer to your question is -19p² + 47q²
let me know if you have any further questions

Alex was biking along a 48 mile trail. First half of the time he was biking twice as fast as the second half of the time. If he
nydimaria [60]

Answer:

The speed in the first part is 16 mph.

Step-by-step explanation:

The total distance is 48 miles. The total time is 4 hours.

In the second part of the trip, he was traveling at speed s for distance d for 2 hours.

In the first part of the trip he was traveling at twice the speed, or 2s, for distance 48 - d, for 2 hours.

speed = distance/time

distance = speed * time

First part of trip:

48 - d = 2s * 2

d + 4s = 48   Equation 1

Second part of the trip:

d = s * 2

d = 2s    Equation 2

Equations 1 and 2 form a system of equations in two unknowns, d and s.

d + 4s = 48

d = 2s

Substitute 2s for d in equation 1.

2s + 4s = 48

6s = 48

s = 8

The speed in the second part is 8 mph.

The speed in the first part is 2s = 2(8) = 16.

The speed in the first part is 16 mph.

Check:

d = 2s = 2(8) = 16

48 - d = 48 - 16 = 32

The second part is 16 miles. The first part is 32 miles.

16 miles at 8 mph takes 2 hours.

32 miles at 16 mph takes 2 hours.

2 hours + 2 hours = 4 hours.

Our answer is correct.

Answer: The speed in the first part is 16 mph.

Ishaan is 222 times as old as Christopher. 353535 years ago, Ishaan was 777 times as old as Christopher.
klemol [59]
<h3><u>Question:</u></h3>

Ishaan is 2 times as old as Christopher. 35 years ago, Ishaan was 7 times as old as Christopher. How old is Christoper now?

<h3><u>Answer:</u></h3>

The present age of Christoper is 42 years old

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Given that Ishaan is 2 times as old as Christoper

Let the present age of Christoper be "x"

Then, Present age of Ishaan = 2 times as old as Christoper

present age of Ishaan = 2x

<em><u>35 years ago, Ishaan was 7 times as old as Christopher</u></em>

Age of Ishaan 35 years ago = Present age of Ishaan - 35

Age of Ishaan 35 years ago = 2x - 35

Similarly,

Age of christoper 35 years ago = Present age of christoper - 35

Age of christoper 35 years ago = x - 35

From given statement, 35 years ago, Ishaan was 7 times as old as Christopher

Age of Ishaan 35 years ago = 7 times the age of Christoper 35 years ago

(2x - 35) = 7(x - 35)

<em><u>Solve the above equation for "x"</u></em>

2x - 35 = 7x - 245

2x - 7x = -245 + 35

-5x = -210

<h3>x = 42</h3>

Thus present age of Christoper is 42 years old
