Now, you rewrite the problem using the improper fraction instead of the mixed number. I like to use the technique called, K.C.F. This stands for keep, change, flip. To rewrite this problem again, you rewrite 5/8,( in other terms, you KEEP this fraction the same) CHANGE the division sign into a multiplication sign, and then you FLIP 31/12 to 12/31. Now you simply multiply 5 and 12, which gets you to 60, and then multiply 8 and 31, which gets you to 248. The answer would be 60/248. The final step is to reduce this fraction to 13/62.
