Frederick Douglass had a significant impact on the fight for African-American rights. Douglass, who escaped from slavery, was remembered for several different contributions. Over the course of twenty plus years, Douglass gave thousands of anti-slavery speeches.

Lastly, throughout the 1840's all the way through the 1860's, Frederick Douglass was an imperative part of the abolitionist movement. This movement was organized in hopes of getting rid of the institution of slavery in the US.
