A golfball is hit from ground level with an initial vertical velocity of 80 ft/s. Use the function h(t) = −16t2 + v0t + h0, wher

e h(t) is the height of a golfball hit with initial vertical velocity v0 from initial height h0 after t seconds in the air, to find the time at which the golfball will hit the ground.

5 0

Step-by-step explanation:

ball is hit from the ground level i.e h0=0

initial velocity=80

when the ball hits the ground it's height from the ground=0

substitute the data in the above function

0=-16t^2+80×t+0

t=0 is a solution but it is at the beginning of the projection

16t=80

t=5

<span>Let's analyze Hannah's work, step-by-step, to see if she made any mistakes.

</span>In Step 1, Hannah wrote \dfrac{d}{dx} (-3+8x) <span> as the sum of two separate derivatives </span>\dfrac{d}{dx}(-3)+ \dfrac{d}{dx} (8x) <span>using the </span><span>sum rule.
</span>
This step is perfectly fine.

In Step 2, \dfrac{d}{dx}(8x) was kept as it is, and \dfrac{d}{dx}(-3) was rewritten as 0 using the constant rule.Indeed, according to the constant rule, the derivative of a constant number is equal to zero.

This step is perfectly fine.

In Step 3, \dfrac{d}{dx} (8x)  was rewritten as \dfrac{d}{dx}(8) \dfrac{d}{dx}(x) supposedly using the constant multiple rule.

The problem is that according to the constant multiple rule, \dfrac{d}{dx}(8x)&#10; should be rewritten as 8 \dfrac{d}{dx}(x) and not as \dfrac{d}{dx}(8)\dfrac{d}{dx}(x).

<span>Therefore, Hannah made a mistake in this step.</span>

A ball of mass 0.4 kg flies through the air at low speed, so that air resistance is negligible. What is the net force acting on
arsen [322]

Answer:

-3.92 N

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that

Mass of ball=0.4 kg

Acceleration due to gravity=-9.8m/s^2

Because the ball flies against to gravity

We have to find the net force acting on the ball while it is in motion.

We know that when there is no air resistance then the net  force acts on the ball is equal to weight of ball.

Net force,F =mg

Substitute the values then we get

F=0.4(-9.8)

F=-3.92N

Hence, the net force acting on the ball while it is on motion=-3.92 N

Give a rule of the piecewise-defined function. Give the domain and the range.
dimulka [17.4K]

Answer:

Hello your question is incomplete below is the complete question

option B is correct

f(x) = 1 if x ≤ 0

       -2 if x > 0

Step-by-step explanation:

The Rule of the piece-wise-defined function is :

from the given figure attached it can be seen that as : x ≤ 0 , y = 1

while for x > 0 , y = -2

therefore option B is correct

f(x) = 1 if x ≤ 0

       -2 if x > 0
