The students conducted a second experiment, using raw chicken liver as they did in the previous experiment. They modified the ch

icken liver and used: one whole piece, one piece cut into two, a piece that they pulverized in a blender. All the livers were the same mass. The liver was placed in test tubes and hydrogen peroxide was then added to each. Here are their results: Chicken Liver and Enzyme Action Liver Condition Rate of fizzing whole 9 two pieces 11 pulverized 14 In the second experiment, how does the students' design mimic the digestive process? A) There is little difference between the various states of the chicken liver and the rate of digestion. B) The blending or pulverization represents mechanical digestion and the enzyme activity represents chemical digestion. C) In the second experiment, the students represent chemical digestion by adding the hydrogen peroxide to the chicken liver. D) Changing the condition of the liver represents mechanical digestion; adding the hydrogen peroxide represents chemical digestion.

During mitosis, the ________ breaks down and the duplicated ___________ are separated and evenly distributed to opposite sides o
JulsSmile [24]
During mitosis, the <em />nuclear membrane breaks down and the duplicated chromosomes are separated and evenly distributed to opposite sides of the cell. Cytokinesis involves the division of the cytoplasm and the organelles that are contained within.

This describes the process of cell division. All of these events happen in the M phase of mitosis. The breaking down and fragmentation of the nuclear membrane to expose the genetic material is in the prophase. The next phase is the metaphase when the duplicated chromosomes align in a straight line (metaphase plate). Anaphase involves the separation of chromatids and by the time the chromatids reach the opposite side then the cell enters telophase. Lastly, cytokinesis involves restoration of the nuclear membrane, division of the cytoplasm, and production of two daughter cells.
