The expression pressurized good breeding would mean that her attitude was not really that great. She would have not really followed the rules of what she was supposed to be doing, and that would include the irony of her kindness, and what she should have.

The correct answer is D.

In “Telephone Conversation,” Wole Soyinka uses the expression “pressurized good breeding” to suggest that the landlady is trying to hide her racial prejudice.

When she hears that the man she is talking to is black, she is silent for a moment, trying to look for the right words so as not to sound racist, despite clearly being so.

What are three symbols in the book the hunger games that describe Katnoss Everdeen?
Novosadov [1.4K]

Answer:

Mockingjays

The mockingjay represents defiance in the novel, with the bird’s symbolism deriving initially from its origins. The mockingjay, we learn, came about as a result of a failed project by the Capitol to spy on the rebellious districts, and since then the bird has served as a reminder of this failure and the districts’ recalcitrance—Katniss describes them as “something of a slap in the face to the Capitol.” The mockingjay pin Madge gives to Katniss is at first an emblem of that resistance. Later in the novel, however, the birds come to symbolize a different sort of defiance. Mockingjays become a link between Katniss and Rue, with the two using the birds to communicate. When Rue dies, Katniss decorates her body with flowers as a means of memorializing Rue, but also to defy the Capitol. When Katniss later sees mockingjays, they remind her of Rue, and that memory inevitably stirs her hatred of the Capitol and her wish to rebel, and take revenge, against it. The mockingjay consequently takes on an additional layer of symbolism, representing not only a general rebellion against the Capitol, but also Katniss’s specific desire to defy it.

Which topic or issue would be most appropriate for a four- to five-page research paper?
svp [43]

Answer:

advertising on school grounds

Explanation:

This is the best option for a research paper because it can be researched without having too much information. The author of the essay could take a stand on whether or not advertising should be allowed on school grounds as well. The other topics are too broad and would need to be the size of a magazine or novel in order to be written about or explored with the depth necessary for a research paper.
