The hypothalamus controls excretions from the pituitary gland. It causes the release of some hormones from the pituitary by dire

ct nervous control, and others by secreting releasing and inhibiting factors that stimulate the pituitary to secrete hormones.
Which best describes the hypothalamus?

It is a connection point between the nervous and endocrine systems.
It is both an exocrine and endocrine gland.
It is referred to as the “master gland.”
It secretes its contents into ducts.

Answer:

It is a connection point between the nervous and endocrine systems.

Explanation:

Hypothalamus is the part of the diencephalon. As a part of the endocrine system, it releases releasing and inhibiting hormones to regulate the release of hormones from the anterior pituitary gland. Example:  thyrotropin-releasing hormone from hypothalamus makes the anterior pituitary to release thyrotropin hormone.

However, to maintain homeostasis, the hypothalamus also regulates the hormone secretion from the pituitary gland through nervous control. Therefore, hypothalamus serves as a link between the nervous and endocrine system.

The hypothalamus is not the master gland rather "it is a connection point between the nervous and endocrine systems." Where the hypothalamus controls the basic impulses and drives of human action.

How is water formed during the electron transport chain
olga55 [171]

Answer:

The electron transport chain is the third and final step of cellular respiration. At the end of the electron transport chain, the hydrogen from the coenzymes meets the oxygen which the cell has consumed and reacts with it to form water. Therefore, water is created as a byproduct of the metabolism reaction.

What happens when the parasympathetic nervous system is activated
kolezko [41]

Answer:

Body functions stimulated by the parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS) include sexual arousal, salivation, lacrimation, urination, digestion, and defecation. The PSNS primarily uses acetylcholine as its neurotransmitter. Peptides (such as cholecystokinin) may also act on the PSNS as neurotransmitters. The parasympathetic nervous system is composed mainly of the cranial and sacral spinal nerves.

An opportunistic predator switches prey, capturing whichever prey species is most abundant. As soon as the prey numbers dwindle
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]

Answer:

The correct answer is keystone predator.

Explanation:

In sustaining the composition of an ecological community, a keystone species plays an essential function. In the absence of keystone species, the ecosystem would fail to exist and would become drastically different. A predator is a classic illustration of a predator, which inhibits a specific herbivorous species from eradicating the dominant species of plants. In the non-existence of predators, the herbivorous prey would increase enormously and would clean the entire essential plant species, and thus, drastically change the significance of the ecosystem.

Eating is important to your body because molecules in food contain_________ energy that cells use to produce ATP and it also sup
oee [108]

Food molecules contain chemical energy which is released when its chemical bonds are broken.

Food undergoes  digestion in the digestive system and is broken down into its monomer units. Carbohydrates, which are the principal source of energy, are broken down into glucose. Glucose is the monomer unit of carbohydrates.

Glucose then is taken up by cells and is used in cellular respiration, which involves three main stages namely glycolysis, Krebs cycle and the electron transport chain, through which a glucose molecule is processed to form at least 36 molecules of ATP.

ATP is the form of energy that cells use.
