A: The slope represents the amount of pay per hour and the amount of years worked.
As the number of years increases the amount of pay increases. The independent variable is the amount of years worked. The dependant variable is the amount of pay per hour.
This gives a positive correlation.

Answer:

A. The slope of the <em>"trend line" or "line of best fit"</em> indicates the relationship between the number of years worked and the hourly wage. The <em>slope</em> is positive and therefore there is a <em>positive correlation</em> between the two variables: years and hourly wage. One could infer that the number of years worked is the<em> independent variable</em> and the pay per hour is the <em>dependent variable </em>meaing that the number of years afect the hourly wage in a positive way. The <em>y-intercept</em> shows the minimum pay per hour when a person has no experience.

B. The <em>y-intercept</em> of the trend line or line of best fit represents the pay per hour when a person has no working experience. The y-intercept is given by the <em>ordered pair </em>(0, y). Where the <em>x-axis </em>represents the <em>independent variable </em>and the <em>y-axis </em>represents the <em>dependent variable.</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

A "<em>trend line" or "line of best fit</em>" is a line that is drawn and contains at least two points of the scatter plot to help one analyze if there is a trend or correlation between two variables.

The <em>slope</em> shows the inclination of that given line. If the slope is positive then there could be a positive correlation and if it's negative then there could be a negative correlation.

A <em>positive or negative correlation</em> reveals the relationship that exists between two variables. A positive correlation indicates that as one variable increases so does the other variable. In this case, as a person has more experience they tend to have a higher hourly wage.

The<em> independent variable</em> (x) is the variable that is changed or altered.

The <em>dependent variable</em> (y) is the variable that changes as a result of the changes in x.

The <em>x-axis</em> is the horizontal line of the scatter plot and often denotates the independent variable. (number of years)

The <em>y-axis</em> is the vertical line of the scatter plot and often denotates the dependent variable. (pay per hour)

The <em>y-intercept</em> is the pay per hour for a person that has no work experience.

What is the minimum number of times you must throw three fair six-sided dice to ensure that the same sum is rolled twice?
Vladimir [108]
For three fair six-sided dice, the possible sum of the faces rolled can be any digit from 3 to 18.
For instance the minimum sum occurs when all three dices shows 1 (i.e. 1 + 1 + 1 = 3) and the maximum sum occurs when all three dces shows 6 (i.e. 6 + 6 + 6 = 18).

Thus, there are 16 possible sums when three six-sided dice are rolled.

Therefore, from the pigeonhole principle, <span>the minimum number of times you must throw three fair six-sided dice to ensure that the same sum is rolled twice is 16 + 1 = 17 times.

The pigeonhole principle states that </span><span>if n items are put into m containers, with n > m > 0, then at least one container must contain more than one item.

That is for our case, given that there are 16 possible sums when three six-sided dice is rolled, for there to be two same sums, the number of sums will be greater than 16 and the minimum number greater than 16 is 17.

Assume that a chocolate bar consists of n squares arranged in a rectangular pattern. The entire bar, a smaller rectangularpieceo
motikmotik

Step-by-step explanation:

Claim:

it takes n - 1 number of breaks to break the bar into n separate squares for all integers n.

Basic case -> n = 1

The bar is already completely broken into pieces.

Case -> n ≥ 2

Assuming that assertion is true for all rectangular bars with fewer than n squares. Break the bar into two pieces of size k and n - k where 1 ≤ k < n

The bar  with k squares requires k − 1 breaks and the bar with n − k squares

requires n − k − 1 breaks.

So the original bar requires  1 + (k−1) + (n−k−1) breaks.

simplifying yields,

1 + k − 1 + n − k − 1

1 - 1 + n - 1

n - 1

Therefore, we proved as we claimed that it takes n - 1 breaks to break the bar into n separate squares.
