The kind of Christianity practiced in Ethiopia is called  Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.

It is one of the Oriental Orthodox Churches, some others are the Coptic Church (in Egypt), the Syriac Church and the Indian Malankara Church. The Oriental Orthodox Churches are autonomous - they are not subordinate to any other Church
