The Byzantine Empire, a place that start with the name of Byzantium, a city in Rome. In 285 CE, the Roman empire has grown too big to be able to be controlled by the Roman Government so the emperor Diocletian split the Roman Empire into two, East and West. Constantine later then became the new emperor for Byzantine and renamed the capitol city of it to Constantinople. Byzantine was a huge empire in Europe, next to the Roman’s and it’s capital is nowaday Istanbul.
