Let me explain this in 2 parts as it may be hard to understand if it's explained all at once.

x(squared)= 9(squarded) - 5(squared)

So that is 9x9=81, and 5x5=25.

81+25= 106

So then... 106= X(squared)

106(square root)

10.3=x

Part 2 is the second triangle.

y(squared)= 5(squared) + 3(squared)

So that's 5x5= 25 and 3x3= 9.
25+9= 34

So then... 34= Y(squared)

34(square root)

5.8=y

Final Answers are....

X= 10.3
Y= 5.8

Hope this helped. :)

After mixing two types of candies, the price became $3.40 per lb. The quantity of the first type of candy was 5/12 of the quanti
drek231 [11]

Answer:

$2.90

Step-by-step explanation:

The quantity of the 1st type of candy be x lb and that of the second type − y lb with the price of $ p/lb.

Then, x=5y/12 or y=2.4x.

The "total price" equation will be: 4.6x + 2.4xp = 3.4(x+2.4x).

Solving for p, we get p = $2.90.

-1/2y=1/2x+5 and y=2x+2
Anettt [7]

I assume this is the intersection of two lines, i.e. -1/2y is (-1/2)y.  Please tell me if it's really -1/(2y).

(-1/2)y=(1/2)x+5

Multiplying both sides by -2

y = - x - 10

The other equation is

y = 2x + 2

We can equate them to find the meet

y = - x - 10 = 2x + 2

-3x = 12

x = -4

y = 2x + 2 = -6

Check:  (-1/2)y=3, (1/2)x+5=3, equal, good

2x+2=2(-4)+2=-6=y, good

Answer: x=-4, y=-6

If f(x) = -x + 8 and g(x) = x^4, what is (gºf)(2)?
kotykmax [81]

Answer:

\large\boxed{(g\circ f)(2)=1296}

Step-by-step explanation:

(g\circ f)(x)=g\bigg(f(x)\bigg)\\\\f(x)=-x+8,\ g(x)=x^4\\\\(g\circ f)(x)=\g\bigg(f(x)\bigg)=(-x+8)^4\\\\(g\circ f)(2)\to\text{put x = 2 to the equation}\ (g\circ f)(x):\\\\(g\circ f)(2)=(-2+8)^4=(6)^4=1296
