The water gets mixed better at the poles as compared to that of equator because the salinity of the water keeps on decreasing and increasing.

The fresh water in the ocean decreases the salinity of the ocean changes and  mixing of the water takes place.

The ocean layer is different due to the the ice bergs and fresh water that comes from the sea into the ocean.
