Answer:

When l = 6 ⇒ w = 4

when l = 4 ⇒w = 6

Step-by-step explanation:

We have given perimeter and area of rectangle.

Perimeter  = P = 20 inches and Area  = A  = 24 square inches

We have to find the length and width of the rectangle.

Let l is length and w is width of rectangle.

The formula  of Perimeter is :

P = 2(l+w)

The formula of area is :

A  = l × w

Given values :

P  = 2(l+w)  = 20

l+w  = 10

w  = 10-l                                      eq(1)

A  = l × w  = 24                           eq(2)

Putting eq(1) in eq(2), we have

A  = l × (10-l)  = 24

10l-l² = 24

l²-10l +24= 0

Applying factorization to above equation, we have

(l-6)(l-4) = 0

Applying Zero-Product rule , we have

l-6 = 0 or l-4 = 0

l = 6 or l = 4

Putting above values in eq(1) , we have

When l = 6 ⇒ w = 10-6

w = 4

when l = 4 ⇒w = 10-4

w = 6

Answer is :

When l = 6 ⇒ w = 4

when l = 4 ⇒w = 6

Answer:

Length = 6in

Width = 4in

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for solving the perimeter of a rectangle is:

P = 2(L+W)

The formula for finding the area of a rectangle is:

A = L x W

If we substitute our values, we will get:

P = 2(6 + 4)

P = 2(10)

P = 20in

A = 6 x 4

A = 24in²

Answer:

The 95% confidence interval for the difference in the proportion of cancer diagnoses between the two groups is (0.3834, 0.5166).

Step-by-step explanation:

Before building the confidence interval, we need to understand the central limit theorem and subtraction between normal variables.

Central Limit Theorem

The Central Limit Theorem estabilishes that, for a normally distributed random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sampling distribution of the sample means with size n can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}.

For a skewed variable, the Central Limit Theorem can also be applied, as long as n is at least 30.

For a proportion p in a sample of size n, the sampling distribution of the sample proportion will be approximately normal with mean \mu = p and standard deviation s = \sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n}}

Subtraction between normal variables:

When two normal variables are subtracted, the mean is the difference of the means, while the standard deviation is the square root of the sum of the variances.

The randomly sampled 400 dogs from homes where an herbicide was used on a regular basis, diagnosing lymphoma in 230 of them.

This means that:

p_h = \frac{230}{400} = 0.575, s_h = \sqrt{\frac{0.575*0.425}{400}} = 0.0247

Of 200 dogs randomly sampled from homes where no herbicides were used, only 25 were found to have lymphoma.

This means that:

p_n = \frac{25}{200} = 0.125, s_n = \sqrt{\frac{0.125*0.875}{200}} = 0.0234

Distribution of the difference:

p = p_h - p_n = 0.575 - 0.125 = 0.45

s = \sqrt{s_h^2+s_n^2} = \sqrt{0.0247^2 + 0.0234^2} = 0.034

Confidence interval:

The confidence interval is:

p \pm zs

In which

z is the zscore that has a pvalue of 1 - \frac{\alpha}{2}.

95% confidence level

So \alpha = 0.05, z is the value of Z that has a pvalue of 1 - \frac{0.05}{2} = 0.975, so Z = 1.96.

The lower bound is 0.45 - 1.96(0.034) = 0.3834

The upper bound is 0.45 + 1.96(0.034) = 0.5166

The 95% confidence interval for the difference in the proportion of cancer diagnoses between the two groups is (0.3834, 0.5166).

A die was rolled eight times. The rolls were 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, and 6. What is the mean absolute deviation for this data? A) 1
adoni [48]

Answer:

The correct option is A:

MAD = 1 + 1/4

Step-by-step explanation:

For a set of N elements {x₁, x₂, ..., xₙ}

The mean is calculated as:

M = \frac{x_1 + x_2 + ... + x_n}{N}

And the mean absolute deviation is calculated as:

MAD = \frac{Ix_1 - MI + Ix_2 - MI + ...+ IX_n - MI}{N}

Here we have the set of 8 elements:

{ 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6}

The mean of this set is:

M = (2 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 6)/8 = 4

Then the mean standard deviation is:

MAD = \frac{I2 - 4I + I2 - 4I + I3 - 4I + I4 - 4I + I4 - 4I + I5 - 4I + I6 - 4I + I6 - 4I}{8} = 10/8

If we simplify this, we get:

MAD = 10/8 = 5/4  = (4 + 1)/4 = 4/4 + 1/4 = 1 + 1/4

MAD = 1 + 1/4

The correct option is A.
