The shells of some marine snails are highly variable, with some snail shells being solid and others having stripes. Predation by

birds is a major source of mortality for the snails. Scientists studying these snails found that while 47 percent of the snail population was striped, 56 percent of the snails eaten by birds were striped. What could scientists conclude about the snails?

For the answer to the question above asking, what could scientists conclude about the snails? The scientists can conclude that the stripes on snails might attract birds. I hope my answer helped you with your question. Have a nice day!

Answer: The scientists conclude that the striped snails are preferred by the birds.

Explanation:

Predation is a process by which one organism (predator) feeds on the other organism (prey) by killing it.

Since, in the data provided 56% of the snails that are eaten by the bird are striped this clearly suggest that the striped snails are preferred by the birds as the frequency of striped snails becoming the prey is more than the solid snails.

What is the length of a triglycerides? How are glycerol and fatty acids “connected” to make a triglyceride?
Ostrovityanka [42]
Every fatty acids has a long hydrocarbon chain (with even amounts of carbons, usually 16 or 18) and a carboxyl group.

glycerol is a 3-carbon molecule with 3 -OH groups.

fatty accids and glycerol can be connected by single or double bonds, depending on if the fatty acid is saturated or unsaturated.

when a lipid forms, the -COOH functional groups of 3 fatty acids react with -OH groups of glycerol.

this leaves 16, 18, or 20 carbons, making a triglyceride 16, 18, or 20 carbons long.

hope this helps!
