Read these excerpts from Angel Agnes and The Summer of the Pestilence. Fiction: Angel Agnes For awhile Agnes seemed to be wander

ing, or perhaps she was dreaming; for her eyes were closed as though in slumber, and a smile like she used to smile, flitted over her pale face, as she stretched out her arms to embrace some one. Nonfiction: The Summer of the Pestilence I found that Edmund had come home sick a little while before, with all the symptoms of yellow fever—violent pains in the head and back, a yellow infusion in the eyes, a dark coating down the middle of the tongue, while the edges of the tongue appeared almost raw, and a very rapid pulse. What statement best describes how death is shown in these excerpts? The nonfictional excerpt shows great interest in scientific details. The fictional excerpt shows great character development. The fictional excerpt is more poetic than the nonfictional excerpt. The fictional excerpt has a stronger plot than the nonfictional excerpt.

Answer:

The fictional excerpt is more poetic than the nonfictional excerpt.

Explanation:

In the fictional passage about <em>Angel Agnes</em> from the chapter "Agnes saves a child but dies herself", Agnes is shown in a deep slumber. But the narrative voice uses the words <em>"wandering, or perhaps she was dreaming"</em>, which is poetic and even fairy-tale like. The further description about her appearance provides an image of something more ethereal than a normal, realistic image.

On the other hand,<em> The Summer of the Pestilence</em> provides a historical account of the Yellow fever and the effects it had on man. The passage deals with the realistic, even violent images of the effects of the disease, an unpleasant picture.

The two passages about death are presented in such a way that the fictional work is more poetic than the realistic / non fictional excerpt.

What message is George Orwell sending in Animal Farm and how does he use satire to convey this message to his audience?
HACTEHA [7]

Answer:

George Orwell is comparing the farm animals to the Soviet Union. He is trying to convey the idea of power and the demoralization that comes along with it. He communicates irony with the readers through the animals being 'punished' for being power hungry. The animals end up mistreating each other, due to their infatuation for authority. Satire is used to show the selfishness of the animals. The power makes them hypocrites for using the same punishments that they hated when they were used against themselves. Irony is shown through the denseness of the society they live in. The readers know a lot more about what is happening in the story, than the characters do.

In "Wave" Dale Wisely characterizes water as an element that
ddd [48]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

C. gives and takes life

<h2>Explanation;</h2>

In the poem Dale Wisely says that

"Waters split the firmament,

dividing heaven from earth

in a splashy feat of parting

here from… there."

The stanza in the poem is actually differentiating heaves from earth which means that life on earth and life after-here is a firmament between earth and skies. Life on earth is where living things are born and in the heavens they go when their life is taken.
