How did nationalism end the Cold War?

History
1 answer:

What ultimately caused the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe? Was it a revival of nationalist sentiment, a failure of Soviet central economic planning to provide comparable lifestyles to those in Western Europe, or was it a fundamental failure of communism to integrate itself into Eastern Europe? These issues span different countries, each with their own individual histories. All, however, ultimately acted to the same ends in a relatively uniform period of time to achieve the same result, a result which ended the last European empire of the modern era.

kogti [31]

The correct answer is: "the end of American neutrality in World War II"

The Lend-Lease Act was a program enacted in the US in 1941 to provide support to Allied countries so that they could defeat the axis forces (nazi Germany, fascist Italy and the Japanese Empire) in WWII, but the US had not decided to directly participate in the conflict yet.

The program consisted on the distribution of food, oil, and all types of military materials and it remained functioning since 1941 until the end of the conflict in 1945.

Boom of housing developments outside cities in the 1950s
inysia [295]

Answer:

Financial benefits related to unemployment and home loans due to the GI Bill caused boom in the housing development outside the cities.

Explanation:

 • In the 1950s, the era of war was over and a new era was starting in which the veterans were returning to their homeland after World War II to start their lives as normal citizens in the American economy.
 • To benefit the veterans, GI Bill was passed and it granted the veterans with unemployment pay for 1 year, guaranties for home loans, etc.
 • All these factors led to the movement of people outside the cities to buy or build their own homes.
 • These areas outside the city were sub-urban and hence were popularly called Suburbs.
