Why did missionaries like marcus and narcissa whitman and henry and eliza spalding move west
PSYCHO15rus [73]
To teach Native Americans about the Bible and Christianity

Marcus and Narcissa Whitman were among the early settlers of the West, pioneers of the Oregon Trail.  Their missionary party, headed to Oregon in 1836, included also Henry and Eliza Spalding.  The two wives were the first white women to cross the Rocky Mountains.  Over time, the Whitmans' work in the West contributed more to white settlement in the region than it did to the betterment of the Native America peoples they sought to work with.   The Whitmans and a dozen other white settlers were killed by some of the Cayuse people in 1847 in what became known as the Whitman massacre. The Spaldings were not among those killed in that event.  Henry Spalding continued to work among native tribes in the West.

The immigration act of 1924 produced highly discriminatory results because it
Kazeer [188]
The Immigration Act of 1924 produced highly discriminatory results because it set a max on how many immigrants could come to the US depending on what country they came from.

For example, there were many more opportunities for citizens from countries like Germany, Great Britain, and Sweden in comparison to individuals from Italy or Russia. Here are some numbers to support this claim:

Germany's Quota (aka amount that could come into US)- 51,227
Great Britain and Northern Ireland's Quota- 34,0007
Sweden's Quota- 9,561
Italy's Quota- 3,845
Russia's Quota-2, 248.

Match the push/pull factor to the correct type of factor for Blacks leaving the south during the Great Migration. Why did they l
Contact [7]

Answer:

The answer is below

Explanation:

Considering that the PUSH factor is what determines why the blacks leave the south and the PULL factor determines what brought the blacks to their new destinations in the west or north. Hence, matching them together we have

1. Higher-paying jobs: - PULL FACTOR: this attracted the black people to move towards West and North for proverbial greener pasture

2. Family: - PULL FACTOR: the enthusiasm and willingness to join their families or cater for them pull many out of the southern part

3. Segregation: - PUSH FACTOR: the issue of segregation plays a negative impact on the success of blacks in the south, as it affects their opportunities, hence the need to move away from the south to either west or north.

4. Low paying jobs (sharecropping): - PUSH FACTOR: the issue of low paying jobs push them to look for places where there are high paying jobs

5. Jim Crow Laws: - PUSH FACTOR: Jim Crow laws are laws specifically designed in the Southern United States to disenfranchise and limit the opportunity for blacks to succeed, hence, this forces many of them to immigrate for a better environment.
