Answer:

A. 0.75

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for the <em>correlation coefficient</em> r is

r =\frac {n \sum{xy} - \sum{x}\sum{y}}{\sqrt{[n \sum{x^{2}}- (\sum{x})^{2}}][n \sum{y^{2}}- (\sum{y})^{2}]}

It's easier to use a statistical calculator, but this question probably expects you to do it by hand.

Let’s write a table for easy calculation.

<u> x    y      xy     x²      y²  </u>

15  36   540  225  1296

13  22   286   169   484

12    6     72    144     36

<u>11  20   220    121    400 </u>

51 84   1118   659   2216

(Σx)² = 2601

(Σy)² = 7056

r =\frac{4\times1118-51\times84}{\sqrt{[4\times659-2601][4\times2216-7056]}}

r =\frac{4472-4284}{\sqrt{[2636-2601][8864-7056]}}

r =\frac{188}{\sqrt{35\times1808}}

r =\frac{188}{\sqrt{63280}}

r =\frac{188}{251.6}

r = 0.747

The graph below shows that there is a poor correlation among the points.

Which of the following functions best describes this graph ?
IrinaVladis [17]

Answer:

<h2> y = x{}^{2} - 9x + 20</h2><h2 />

Step-by-step explanation:

As seen from the graph , the function cuts the x-axis at 4 and 5. So, the roots of function are 4 and 5.

The function becomes :

( x - 4 ) ( x - 5 )

Expanding:

(x - 4)(x - 5)

x(x - 5) - 4(x - 5)

{x}^{2}  - 5x - 4x + 20

{x}^{2}  - 9x + 20

So, after expansion , it becomes :

{x}^{2}  - 9x + 20

So, Option D is the correct option.

Hope this helps..

Best regards!!

The linear function with values of f(-1)=8 and f(5)=6 is  f(x) = \frac{-x+23}{3}.

What is linear function?

 A straight line on the graph has the equation or formula y = f(x) = px + q is linear function .One independent and one dependent variables are present. X and Y are the independent and dependent variables, respectively. P is the y-intercept or constant term, and it also represents the value of the dependent variable. A straight line on the coordinate plane is represented by a linear function.

Here the given  values are f(-1)=8 and f(5)=6.

We know that f(x)=y , Then the points are (-1,8) and (5,6).

Using slope formula ,

=> slope m= \frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

=> slope m = -2/6=-1/3

Now using slope formula,

=> y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

=>y-8=-1/3(x+1)

=>3y-24=-x-1

=> 3y=-x+23

=> y = \frac{-x+23}{3}

Hence the linear function is f(x) = \frac{-x+23}{3}.
