This is an incomplete question, here is a complete question.

Draw a Lewis structure for H₂O that obeys the octet rule if possible and answer the following questions based on your drawing.

For the central oxygen atom:

The number of lone pairs =

The number of single bonds =

The number of double bonds =

Answer : The Lewis structure for H₂O is shown below.

For the central oxygen atom:

The number of lone pairs = 4

The number of single bonds = 2

The number of double bonds = 0

Explanation :

Lewis-dot structure : It shows the bonding between the atoms of a molecule and it also shows the unpaired electrons present in the molecule.

In the Lewis-dot structure the valance electrons are shown by 'dot'.

The representation of valence electrons of an atom by dots around the symbol of an element is said to be the Lewis-dot symbol.

In the representation of Lewis-symbol, one electron dot must put on each side of the element symbol then paired the electrons.

The given molecule is, H_2O

As we know that hydrogen has '1' valence electrons and oxygen has '6' valence electrons.

Therefore, the total number of valence electrons in H_2O = 2(1) + 6 = 8

According to Lewis-dot structure, there are 4 number of bonding electrons and 4 number of non-bonding electrons.

For the central oxygen atom:

The number of lone pairs = 4

The number of single bonds = 2

The number of double bonds = 0

Separate this redox reaction into its balanced component half‑reactions. Use the symbol e− for an electron. Cl2+2Li⟶2LiCl
ahrayia [7]

Answer:

Cl₂ ⟶ 2Cl⁻ + 2e⁻ Oxidation

2Li + 2e⁻ ⟶ 2Li⁺ Reduction

Explanation:

The question requests to split the equation below into half equations;

Cl2+2Li⟶2LiCl

In redox chemistry, splitting into half equations simply means highlighting the reduction and oxidation reactions of the reaction.

Before proceeding, we hav to split the ionic compound; LiCl into it's component ions. So we have;

Cl₂ + 2Li ⟶ 2Li⁺Cl⁻

This leaves us with;

Cl₂ ⟶ 2Cl⁻ ............................... i

2Li ⟶ 2Li⁺  .............................. ii

Oxidation reactions can be identified by the increase in oxidation number and decrease in the case of reduction.

in reaction i, there is a decrease in oxidation number from 0 to -1. This is the reduction half equation,

in reaction ii, there is an increase in oxidation number from 0 to +1. This is the oxidation half equation

In terms of electrons, we have to even the charge;

Oxidation = Loss of electrons

Reduction = Gain of electrons

The half equations are given as;

Cl₂ ⟶ 2Cl⁻ + 2e⁻ Oxidation

2Li + 2e⁻ ⟶ 2Li⁺ Reduction

11. Which is the solubility product expression for Na3PO4(s)?
dlinn [17]

Answer: B

Explanation: the 3 in Na3PO4(s) belong to the sodium atom (Na). so in any of these equations, the 3 would have to be with Na.

A- the 3 is along w the PO4, which would make it part of that bond

C- there is no 3 at all for Na in this choice, making it incorrect

D- Again, the 3 is placed on the other half of the bond
