Short Answer: y = 40
Remark
Bisect means cut's in half. So that means that the two angles are each 1/2 of the whole angle and are equal.

Step One
Set up the equation
y + 30 = 3y - 50           Subtract y from both sides.
30 = 3y - y - 50
30 = 2y - 50                Add 50 to both sides.
30 + 50 = 2y
80 = 2y                        Divide by 2
80/2 = y
y = 40

check
y + 30 = 3y - 50
40 + 30 = 3(40) - 50
70 = 120 - 50
70 = 70 and it checks.

Find the value of the variable y in the equation –5.7 + y = 8.2.
emmasim [6.3K]

Answer:

y = 13.9

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that

–5.7 + y = 8.2.    -----(1)

Equation (1) is a linear equation in one variable.

LHS consists of a constant and a variable term

RHS consists of only constant term

<u>Find the value of y</u>

Solving the equation

-5.7 + y = 8.2

moving -5.7 to the RHS

y = 8.2 + 5.7

y = 13.9

Therefore the value of y = 13.9

-5.7 + y = 8.2

15 points! What is the scale factor of the dilation?
maw [93]

Answer: \frac{1}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the formula for calculate the distance between two points:

d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

Calculate the distance AB. Substitute the coordinates into the formula. Then:

d_{AB}=\sqrt{(8-0)^2+(8-(-7))^2}

d_{AB}=17

Calculate the distance A'B'. Substitute the coordinates into the formula. Then:

d_{A'B'}=\sqrt{(2-6)^2+(1-5-(-6))^2}

d_{A'B'}=\frac{17}{2}

As you can see, the distance A'B' is the distance AB multiplied by 1/2. Therefore, this is the scale factor.
