Reduce the effort needed to move a load vertically. An incline decreases the amount of work you need to put in to lift a load. If you lifted the load directly up, you would need to put in enough energy to counter the whole weight of the load. If you push the load up an incline, however, your horizontal force will only need to counter the x-component of gravity's force, which is smaller in magnitude, so it takes less effort to push the load up a slope.

Can someone please help me with these two questions
Anarel [89]

Answer:

 23. 0.4583 seconds

 24. 0.0107 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

The problem statement tells you how to work it. You need to convert speed from miles per hour to feet (or inches) per second.

90 mi/h = (90·5280 ft)/(3600 s) = 132 ft/s = (132·12 in)/s = 1584 in/s

__

23. The time it takes for the ball to travel 60.5 ft is ...

 time = distance/speed

 time = (60.5 ft)/(132 ft/s) = 0.4583 s

It takes 458.3 milliseconds to reach home plate.

__

24. time = distance/speed

 time = (17 in)/(1584 in/s) = 0.0107 s

The ball is in the strike zone for 10.7 milliseconds.

Using dimensional analysis, what unit of time will make the statement true?
frosja888 [35]

The unit of time that will make the statement true is "day"

What unit of time will make the statement true?

The conversion equation is given as:

Seconds + Seconds/? * day = seconds

Represent the blank with a variable (x)

So, we have:

Seconds + Seconds/x * day = seconds

Subtract "seconds" from both sides of the equation

So, we have:

Seconds/x * day = seconds

Divide both sides of the equation by "seconds"

So, we have:

1/x * day = 1

Multiply both sides by x

x= day

Hence, the unit of time that will make the statement true is "day"
