out of 150 students appeared in an examination 60% of the students passed in math 50% in Science and 20% in both subjects how ma
jeka57 [31]

Answer:

5000 students

Step-by-step explanation:

Let total number of students appeared in the exams is x.

20% of x have failed in both maths and science.

Here,in maths 60% of students passed.

%ag of students failed in maths= 40%

%ag of students failed in math — % of students failed in both maths and science = students passed in science but failed in maths i.e. 40–20 = 20%.

Likewise as 70% of students passed science

So 30% failed in science.

And Students failed in science only but passed in maths= %ag of students failed in science- % of students failed in both maths and science.

i.e. 30–20= 10%.

Given 2500 number of students passed in both maths and science = 100–(students failed in both maths and science+ students failed only in maths and passed in science+ students failed only in science but passed in maths)%

= 100–(20+20+10)= 50% of students passed both.

50% of x = 2500

50x/100= 2500

=> x= 5000.

So total number of students appeared in exam is 5000 in number

Max spends three times as long on his math homework than he does on his science homework. If he spent total of 64 minutes on mat
den301095 [7]

Let X = science homework.

Then math homework would be 3x ( three times as long).

Now you have math plus science = 64 minutes:

x  + 3x = 64

Combine like terms:

4x = 64

Divide both sides by 4:

x = 64 / 4

x = 16

He spent 16 minutes on science and 48 minutes on math.

<h2>The missing measures of the angles are:</h2>

m\angle 1= 60^{\circ}\\\\m\angle 2= 39^{\circ}\\\\m\angle 3= 21^{\circ}\\\\m\angle 4 = 39^{\circ}\\\\m\angle 5 = 21^{\circ}

<u>Given</u>:

m\angle Z = 138^{\circ}

<em><u>Note the following:</u></em>

  • An equilateral triangle has all its three angles equal to each other. Each angle = 60^{\circ}.
  • This implies that, since \triangle WXY is equilateral, therefore, m\angle Y = m\angle XWY = m\angle XYW = 60^{\circ}

  • Base angles of an isosceles triangle are congruent to each other.
  • This implies that, since \triangle WZY is isosceles, therefore, m\angle 3 = \angle 5

Applying the above stated, let's find the measure of each angle:

  • Find m\angle 1

m\angle 1 = 60^{\circ} (an angle in an equilateral triangle equals 60 degrees)

  • Find m\angle 2

m\angle 2 = 60 - m \angle 3

m\angle 2 = 60 -\frac{1}{2}(180 - 138) (Note: \frac{1}{2}(180 - 138) = 1 $ base $ angle $ of $ \triangle WZY)

m\angle 2 = 60 -21\\\\m\angle 2 = 39^{\circ}

  • Find m\angle 3 and m\angle 5 (base angles of isosceles triangle WZY)

m\angle 3 =  \frac{1}{2}(180 - 138) (1 $ base $ angle $ of $ \triangle WZY)

m\angle 3 =  \frac{1}{2}(42) \\\\m\angle3 = 21^{\circ}

m\angle3 = m\angle 5 (base angles of isosceles triangle are congruent)

Therefore,

m\angle5 = 21^{\circ}

  • Find m\angle 4

m\angle 4 = 60 - m\angle 5

Substitute

m\angle 4 = 60 - 21\\\\m\angle 4 = 39^{\circ}

The missing measures of the angles are:

m\angle 1= 60^{\circ}\\\\ m\angle 2= 39^{\circ}\\\\m\angle 3= 21^{\circ}\\\\m\angle 4 = 39^{\circ}\\\\m\angle 5 = 21^{\circ}
