6 - 6x = -24

divide by 6:  1 - x = -4

subtract 1 from both sides:  -x = -4 -1

                                              -x = -5

                                         x = 5

Proof: 1 - 5 = -4

6-6x= -24

Subtract 6 from -24 = -30

divide -30 by -6= 5

x=5

A cup has the shape of a right circular cone. The height of the cup is 12 cm, and the radius of the opening is 3 cm. Water is po
Leviafan [203]

Answer:

The rate at which the water level is rising when the depth of the water in the cup is 5 centimeters is approximately 0.407 centimeters per second.

Step-by-step explanation:

From Geometry, we find that the volume of the cone (V), measured in cubic centimeters, is defined by the formula:

V = \frac{\pi\cdot \cdor r^{2}\cdot h}{3} (Eq. 1)

All right circular cone satisfies the following relationship:

\frac{h}{r} = \frac{h_{max}}{r_{max}}

r = \left(\frac{r_{max}}{h_{max}} \right)\cdot h (Eq. 2)

Where:

r - Radius of the right circular cone, measured in centimeters.

h - Height of the right circular cone, measured in centimeters.

By applying (Eq. 2) in (Eq. 1), we get the following formula:

V = \frac{\pi}{3} \cdot \left(\frac{r_{max}}{h_{max}} \right)^{2}\cdot h^{3} (Eq. 1b)

Given that r_{max} and h_{max} are constant, we get the rate of change for the volume of the right circular cone (\dot V), measured in cubic centimeters per second:

\dot V = \pi\cdot \left(\frac{r_{max}}{h_{max}} \right)^{2}\cdot h^{2}\cdot \dot h (Eq. 2)

Where \dot h is the rate of change of the water level, measured in centimeters per second.

If we know that \dot V = 2\,\frac{cm^{3}}{s}, r_{max} = 3\,cm, h_{max} = 12\,cm and h = 5\,cm, the rate of change of the water level is:

\dot h = \frac{\dot V}{\pi\cdot h^{2}}\cdot \left(\frac{h_{max}}{r_{max}} \right)^{2}

\dot h =\left[\frac{2\,\frac{cm^{3}}{s} }{\pi\cdot (5\,cm)^{2}}\right] \cdot \left(\frac{12\,cm}{3\,cm} \right)^{2}

\dot h \approx 0.407\,\frac{cm}{s}

The rate at which the water level is rising when the depth of the water in the cup is 5 centimeters is approximately 0.407 centimeters per second.

Which rate is the best deal for a box of cereal?
kondor19780726 [428]
The answer is c. You find the price per ounce. 4.29/24 = .178 then 3.49/18= .193 then 6.39/39= .163 and 2.49/14 = .177. The cheapest is c. Hope this helps!!!

Does anyone have the answers for the rest of this or know the answers ?
irga5000 [103]

Answer:

4.

a)  4x^4-4x^3-16x^2+16x

b)  4x^4-4x^3-16x^2+16x

5. Yes

Step-by-step explanation:

The distributive property is:

(a+b)(c+d)=ac+ad+bc+bd

It can be extended to a lot of terms as well.

We will use this to multiply both of the probelms shown.

4 a)

(4x^2-4x)(x^2-4)=(4x^2)(x^2)-(4)(4x^2)-(4x)(x^2)+(4x)(4)=4x^4-16x^2-4x^3+16x=4x^4-4x^3-16x^2+16x

The answer is 4x^4-4x^3-16x^2+16x

4 b)

(x^2+x-2)(4x^2-8x)=(x^2)(4x^2)-(8x)(x^2)+(x)(4x^2)-(8x)(x)-(2)(4x^2)+(2)(8x)=4x^4-8x^3+4x^3-8x^2-8x^2+16x=4x^4-4x^3-16x^2+16x

The answer is  4x^4-4x^3-16x^2+16x

5. Yes

How do you find a rate of a number
KATRIN_1 [288]

To determine the rate of a number do the following steps:

   Multiply the number by the percent (e.g. 87 * 68 = 5916)

   Divide the answer by 100 (Move decimal point two places to the left) (e.g. 5916/100 = 59.16)

   Round to the desired precision (e.g. 59.16 rounded to the nearest whole number = 59)
