To serve the needs of global supply chains, ERP systems are multi-language, multinational and multi-currency. Multi language refers to the property of ERP software to be in multiple languages. For example, one company sells an ERP system that can simultaneously operate in more than 30 different languages. When the user launches the ERP system, he or she has the option of selecting the language in which he or she will interact with the system. Multinational refers to the property of ERP software to handle the accounting standards of multiple countries. Fords ERP system follows the american accounting standards in its united states subsidiaries and follows the mexican accounting standards in its mexico subsidiaries. Multi-currency refers to the property of ERP software to handle multiple currencies. A Japanese user of sony ERP system is able to view the company profit and loss statement in Japanese yen while an american user of sony is able to see same statement in united states dollars.
