Answer: British casualties were twice as many as the Americans.

It is difficult to establish the precise number of deaths throughout the conflict. Many soldiers did not die in combat, but due to diseases such as smallpox. However, these deaths were higher among British soldiers as Washington decided to have his troops inoculated against the disease.

It is estimated that between 25,000 and 70,000 American Patriots died during active military service. Approximately 6,800 died in battle, while 17,000 died from disease, usually as prisoners of the British.

On the other hand, British records show 43,633 deaths across the British Armed Forces.
