Farmers are excited to learn that scientists have discovered that if the Proton Pyrophosphatase pump is in an area where the con

centration gradient is too high (with too many hydrogen ions on one side), the pump works in the opposite direction. This allows more sugars to be passed into neighboring cells. Sugars are needed for energy and plant growth, so in effect, this helps move sugars around the plant without using more materials. The plant roots grow longer and are able to absorb more nutrients. Explain why this finding is important.

Disruptive selection events select for _______.
Natalija [7]

The right option is; extreme traits

Disruptive selection events select for extreme traits.

Disruptive selection is a type of natural selection in which organisms with extreme traits are favored (such as in reproduction) over organisms with intermediate traits. This type of selection results in increased traits differences with increase in frequency of the alleles for the extreme traits. Disruptive selection can lead to the digression in a species line.
