Patriarchy means ruled by men. The men play the dominant role in politics, social and family life. They have moral authority which can not be questioned. In some patriarchal societies, only men were allowed to inherit property, and only men had social privileges, such as voting rights or eligibility for an office.
The concept of patriarchy stems from the original ideology of masculine dominance and the original differences between men and women that make men superior human beings.
