Solve for x eliminate y

Mathematics
1 answer:

6 0

Answer:

x = - 6

Step-by-step explanation:

given the 2 equations

3x + 5y = - 13 → (1)

2x - 3y = - 15 → (2)

To eliminate y from the equations we require their coefficients to be equal so that when we add the equations y is eliminated

multiply equation (1) by 3 and equation (2) by 5

9x + 15y = - 39 → (3)

10x - 15y = - 75 → (4)

add (3) and (4) term by term

(9x + 10x) + (15y - 15y) = (-39 - 75 )

19x = - 114 ( divide both sides by 19 )

x = - 6

To find y substitute x = - 6 into either (1) or (2)

See when shopping at the farmers market and bought apples and bananas at the fruitstand she bought 20 pieces of fruit and spent
Wittaler [7]
PART A
apples = a
bananas = b
a + b = 20
$0.50a + $0.75b = $11.50

PART B
a + b = 20
a +b -b = 20 - b
a = 20 -b
$0.50(20-b) + $0.75b = $11.50
10 - 0.50b + 0.75b = $11.50
10 + 0.25b = 11.50
10 -10 + 0.25b = 11.50 -10
0.25b = 1.5
0.25b/0.25 = 1.5/0.25
b = 6

a = 20 -b
a = 20 -6
a = 14

PART C
Missy bought 14 apples and 6 banans.

Check
$0.50(14) + $0.75(6) = $11.50
$7 + $4.50 = $11.50
$11.50 = $11.50

The sum of all positive integers less than 300 which are not divisible by 3.
dimaraw [331]

Answer:

30000

Step-by-step explanation:

all positive integers less than 300 (300 exclusive)

1,2,3,4,5..........149,150,151.......296,297,298,299

there are (1+299) (2+298) (3+297)...(149+151)   149 pairs of 300 + 150

300 x 149 + 150 = 44850

all positive integers less than 300 which are divisible by 3

3,6,9,12..........294,297    i.e. 3 x (1,2,3,4.......49,50,51.....97,98,99)

3 x ((100 x 49) + 50) = 3 x 4950 = 14850

Answer: 44850 - 14850 = 30000

All ball is thrown into the air with an upward velocity of 24 ft/s. Its height h in feet after t seconds is given by the functio
VARVARA [1.3K]
//I'm going to use differentiation to show you how to do this, although I would normally use mechanics.

dh/dt = -32t + 24
-32t + 24 = 0 when maximum
32t = 24
t = 24/32
t = 3/4

//To find the maximum height just substitute "t" in

h = -16 (9/16) + 24(3/4) + 7
h = -9 + 18 + 7
h = 16ft

You’re given three angle measurements of 30°, 70°, and 80°. How many triangles can you construct using these measurements?
Tems11 [23]
There are infinitely many triangles that can be constructed. The three angles can be fixed but the side lengths can scale up or down (larger or smaller). For example, say we had a triangle with sides of 3,4,5. A similar triangle to this would be 6,8,10. The two similar triangles have the same corresponding angles (which are congruent to one another). That example shows how it's possible to make infinitely many triangles based on scaling an original triangle.

In short, there is no limit to how many triangles you can make as long as the angles stay the same.
