sqrt (x^8 y^18)

(x^8 y^18) ^(1/2)

using the power of powers we multiply the exponents

x^ (8*1/2)  y^ (18*1/2)

x^4 y^9

we have to be careful here because if y<0 this does not hold true

y^18 is positive   y^9 can be negative

so we have to take the absolute value of y

we don't have to do this for x since x^4 is positive and x^8 is positive

x^4 |y|^9

Choice A

ANSWER : 9 over 4

or 2 and 1/4

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*3 over 2 x 3 over 2 is 3/2 x 3/2* << this is for me to remember
Okay so multiplying fractions means for us to multiply across. That means if we line the fractions, we multiply. Like this
 3     x     3
-----         -----                3 times 3 is = 9
 2     x     2                  2 times 2 is = 4
9 over 4 is the same thing as 2 and 1/4  << FRACTION
                                                ^^
A 20-foot tall flagpole is leaning towards a house. If the flagpole makes an 85 degree angle with the ground and the angle of el
PolarNik [594]
Answer:
Approximately, there is a distance of 25,6 foot between the base of the flagpole to the house.
Step-by-step explanation:
We are given the following in the question:
Height of pole = 20 foot
Angle between pole and ground = 85 degrees
Angle of elevation from the base of the house to the top of the pole = 55 degrees
Then, the third angle of the triangle can be found as:
Angle sum property of triangle: The sum of the three angles of a triangle is 180 degrees.
x + 85 + 55 = 180\\x = 180 - 140\\x  = 40^\circ
Thus, by the sin rule, we can write:
\dfrac{\text{Distance from the base of the flagpole to the house}}{\sin 55} = \dfrac{20}{\sin 40}\\\\\Rightarrow \text{Distance from the base of the flagpole to the house} = 20\times \dfrac{\sin 55}{\sin 40}\\\\=20\times \dfrac{0.82}{0.64} = 25.625
Approximately, there is a distance of 25,6 foot between the base of the flagpole to the house.
