Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

(x-4)2-28=8

Two solutions were found :

x = 10

x = -2

Rearrange:

Rearrange the equation by subtracting what is to the right of the equal sign from both sides of the equation :

                    (x-4)^2-28-(8)=0

Step by step solution :

Step  1  :

Trying to factor by splitting the middle term

1.1     Factoring  x2-8x-20

The first term is, x2 its coefficient is 1 .

The middle term is, -8x its coefficient is -8 .

The last term, "the constant", is -20

Step-1 : Multiply the coefficient of the first term by the constant   1 • -20 = -20

Step-2 : Find two factors of -20 whose sum equals the coefficient of the middle term, which is -8 .

     -20    +    1    =    -19

     -10    +    2    =    -8    That's it

Step-3 : Rewrite the polynomial splitting the middle term using the two factors found in step 2 above, -10 and 2

                    x2 - 10x + 2x - 20

Step-4 : Add up the first 2 terms, pulling out like factors :

                   x • (x-10)

             Add up the last 2 terms, pulling out common factors :

                   2 • (x-10)

Step-5 : Add up the four terms of step 4 :

                   (x+2)  •  (x-10)

            Which is the desired factorization

Find the point on the line 4x+4y+5=0 which is closest to the point (−2,−3).
abruzzese [7]
We know that

The point on the line 4x+4y+5=0 which is closest to the point (−2,−3) will be located on the line perpendicular to the given line and will go through the given point

step 1
the slopes of two perpendicular lines
are
m1*m2=-1
given line
4x+4y+5=0------> 4y=-4x-5----> y=-x-1.25
m1=-1
so
m2=1

step 2
find the equation of the line with m2=1 and point (−2,−3)
y-y1=m*(x-x1)-----> y+3=(1)*(x+2)----> y=x+2-3-----> y=x-1

step 3
The point on the line 4x+4y+5=0 which is closest to the point (−2,−3) is the intersection of the line y=-x-1.25 and the line y=x-1

using a graph tool
see the attached figure

the solution is the point (-0.125,-1.125)

A local car dealer is advertising a 2-year lease
MAVERICK [17]

Answer:

c = 150m+3000

Step-by-step explanation:

So if 150 is the monthly payment and c is the total cost you'd be looking for c and 150 would be multiplied by m for how ever many months is takes to pay it off. You would then just add on the 3000 dollar deposit since its just a one time payment to start out with.
