For the multiplicaion, what you want to do is multiply like you do normally. I'll help you do number 1.

.18
x .6

So multiply it as you would, then worry about the decimals. 8 x 6 is 48, put down the and carry the 4.
4
.18
x .6
8

Then it is 6 x 1 is 6. Add the 4 and you get 10.

.18
x .6
108

Now we focus on the decimals. For .18 you have to move the decimal up 2 and for .6 you have to move the decimal up 1. That means that for its product you have to move its decimal up 3. This make 108 into .108.

.108 is your answer.

Elza [17]

Question:

A cinema can hold 270 people at one performance 5/9 of the seats were occupied of the occupied seats 40% we occupied by concessionary ticket holders.

What is the number of seats occupied by concessionary ticket holders?.

Answer:

60 seats

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Number of seats = 270

Occupied Seats = 5/9

Concessionary ticket holders = 40% of occupied Seats

Required

The number of seats occupied by concessionary ticket holders

First the number of occupied seat has to be calculated.

Occupied\ Seats = \frac{5}{9} * 270

Occupied\ Seats = \frac{1350}{9}

Occupied\ Seats = 150

Next is to determine the number of seats occupied by concessionary ticket holders.

Number = 40\%\ of\ occupied\ seats

Number = 40\%\ of\ 150

Convert percentage to decimal

Number = 0.4 * 150

Number = 60

<em>Hence, 60 seats were occupied by concessionary ticket holders.</em>

1. A sum of money is shared among Jessica, Amanda, and Beverly in the ration 8:9:3
astra-53 [7]

Answer:

$200

Step-by-step explanation:

Amanda       Beverly

     9         :       3

difference between Amanda and Beverly = 9 - 3 = 6 portions.

∴ value of 6 portions = $60

   value of 1 portion  =  $ 60 / 6

                                  = $10

Total no. of portions = 8 + 9 + 3 = 20

Total sum of money to be shared = value of 1 portion x Total no. of portions

                                                         = $10 x 20

                                                         = <u>$200</u>
