a. Darwin discovered that finches in the Galapagos have thirteen different kinds of beaks.
b. Darwin observed two kinds of giant tortoises that are distinguished by the shapes of their carapaces (dome-shaped and saddle-shaped).

b. In the face of famine, the marine iguanas have adapted by having the ability to shrink their body size. They are able to grow back to their original size once the food is supply increases.

4. Explain how these observations influenced his theory of evolution?

These observations led Darwin to believe that if a certain trait is more advantageous in a specific environment, then the carriers of that trait are more likely to survive into adulthood and to generate offspring than those who do not have that trait. Eventually, the advantageous traits for a species will proliferate. Darwin later called this as "survival of the fittest".

Operational

Explanation:

The operational definition is the description of a specific process, or set of validation tests, accessible to more persons than the definer (i.e., said to be publicly accessible), where it can be repeatedly measured or tested

Operational definitions are also used to define system states or (nonspecific) physical objects by the description of a specific process of preparation which can be repeated

For example in the given example experimenter is using the case of hitting a punching bag to measure the level of aggression in someone

Mrac [35]

Answer:

Eukaryotes:

-Organisms with a well defined nucleus are known as eukaryotes. such cells are called as eukaryotic cells.

- Their nucleus is enclosed within the nuclear membrane.

- They do not posses a mitochondria.

- The cell wall is the outer most layer of a eukaryotic cell (only plant cells have a cell wall)

- The cells are divided by a process called mitosis.

Eg: Plants, Animals.

Prokaryotes:

- Organisms without a well defined nucleus are known as prokaryotes. Such cells are called as Prokaryotic cells.

- They lack nuclear membrane.

- Mitochondria, Golgi bodies, chloroplast and lysosomes are absent.

- The genetic material (DNA) is present on the chromosome.

Eg: Every organism coming under the kingdom monera.
