Superordinate goals differ from regular goals because these require the participation of multiple individuals, especially those that have opposite points of view about an issue. For example, if different people living in the same street want to solve a security problem but they also have negative relationships and different points of view, there is a superordinate goal because the participation of every person is needed to achieve the goal even if they have opposite points of view.
Besides this, this type of goal is practical and even common in real life because it is normal in some situations people with different points of view have to work together to solve a problem or achieve a goal. This means, superordinate goals are not restricted to experiments but they can also be found in real life.
Take the species that has the greater number, and the subtract it with the number of the other species. Then you would be able to see how many new species evolved between them.
