Answer:

These organelles are contractile vacuoles

Explanation:

Contractile vacuoles are intercellular pumps that are slowly filled with fresh water and eventually expel their contents outside the cell. Freshwater protists maintain the hydric equilibrium by contractile vacuoles that pump out the water of the cell and thus prevent the cell swelling induced by osmotic stress.

Those mutated genes are most commonly recessive. Females have two X chromosomes so they can have a chromosome with the mutated gene and one with the healthy gene. The healthy gene is dominant so the disease won't manifest, and the woman is only a carrier. Males have only one X chromosome and an Y chromosome. If they have the mutated gene on the X chromosome they won't have another X chromosome with the healthy gene.

To summarize, men can't be carriers and they only need one copy of the mutated X-linked gene while women need two copies of the mutated gene.

How does a decrease/decline in a top predator impact biodiversity in an ecosystem?
Allisa [31]

Answer:

The most obvious result of the removal of the top predators in an ecosystem is a population explosion in the prey species. ... When prey becomes more scarce, the predator population declines until prey is again more abundant. Therefore, the two balance each other. When the predators are removed, prey populations explode.
