3,000                             50,000                 $90,000

Questions

1.     What is the lowest Average Total Cost that Ted can operate his business? In other words, at what cost do we reach the bottom of the average total cost curve?

2.     At a market price of $51 per fish, what quantity does Ted process and what is the firm’s accounting profit at this output? (remember the profit maximization rule)

3.     At a market price of $45 per fish, what quantity does Ted process and what is the firm’s accounting profit at this output?

Answer:

1) the lowest average total cost is obtained when fishing and processing 2,000 fish and it is $45 per fish

2) If the market price is $51 per fish, then Ted should be producing at full capacity = 3,000 fish and will make $12,990 in profits

3) If the market price is $45 per fish, then Ted should be producing 2,000 fish, but will not be making any profit

Explanation:

lowest average total cost:

ATC (1,000 fish) = ($50,000 + $25,000) / 1,000 = $75 per fish

ATC (2,000 fish) = ($50,000 + $40,000) / 2,000 = $45 per fish

ATC (3,000 fish) = ($50,000 + $90,000) / 3,000 = $46.67 per fish

if market price = $51

profit (1,000 fish) = ($51 - $75) x 1,000 = -$24,000

profit (2,000 fish) = ($51 - $45) x 2,000 = $12,000

profit (3,000 fish) = ($51 - $46.67) x 3,000 = $12,990

if market price = $51

profit (1,000 fish) = ($45 - $75) x 1,000 = -$30,000

profit (2,000 fish) = ($45 - $45) x 2,000 = $0

profit (3,000 fish) = ($45 - $46.67) x 3,000 = -$5,010

During 2019, Savannah Corporation, a calendar year C corporation, had operating income of $730,000, operating expenses of $400,0
lesya692 [45]

Answer:

$81,900

Explanation:

tax liability = (total income - total expenses + long term capital gains - short term capital gains) x tax rate

tax liability = ($730,000 - $400,000 + $90,000 - $30,000) x 21% (corporate tax established by TC&JA) = $390,000 x 21% = $81,900

Corporations pay the same tax rate for normal income or capital gains, unlike individuals who generally pay lower capital gains rates.

Explain how a firm's production function is related to its marginal product of labor, how a firm's marginal product of labor is
Ghella [55]

The price paid to each factor adjusts to balance the supply and demand for that factor. Because factor demand reflects the value of the marginal product of that factor, in equilibrium, each factor is compensated according to its marginal contribution to the production of goods and services.

<h3><u>Explanation:</u></h3>

The incremental profit that is being earned for an additional single unit by subtracting the price of the product and all the variable cost that is associated with that product is the marginal contribution. It is the earnings that is obtained in total for paying all fixed expense and also for the profit generation.

The price that is spent for the every factor in order to adjust balancing the supply and demand of that particular factor. This is because of the reason that, the value of the marginal product of any factor is controlled by the demand factor. Thus in an equilibrium state there will be a compensation of each factor based on the marginal contribution to the production of goods and services.

A shift in the sales mix from high-margin items to low-margin items can cause total profits to decrease even though total sales
g100num [7]

Answer: True

Explanation:

Low Margin items refer to those that have a lower profit per unit because their costs may be higher in relation to their selling price.

High margin items are the opposite.

If the company switches from High Margin items to Low margin items, they will face a situation where they are incurring more costs per sale which would drive their profits down even if sales increase.

The optimal mix for a company should have more high margin items than low margin items.
