1200cm

20x50= 1000x1/2x2= 1000
10x20=200x2x1/2=200
1000+200=1200
the area of the kite is 1200 cm

Mr. Harrison spent about $3600 on plane tickets for a family vacation. If each plane ticket cost $585, what is the largest numbe
Zepler [3.9K]

Answer:

6 tickets

Step-by-step explanation:

Amount spent by Mr Harrison on plane tickets = $3600

Cost of each ticket = $585

Thus, largest number of tickets purchased is;

n = 3600/585

n = 6.15

Approximating to the nearest whole number gives 6 tickets

A diver starts out at 426 feet below the surface (or -426 feet). She then swims upward 212 feet. Use a signed number to represen
trapecia [35]

Step-by-step explanation:

this is a college question ?

oh, my dear ...

we start at -426 ft.

swimming upwards reduces depth by adding hight.

so,

-426 + 212 = -214 ft

basically the same method is used as if we would subtract 212 from 426.

so, the diver is currently at -214 ft (214 ft below the surface).

Find the center, vertices, and foci of the ellipse with equation 4x^2 + 9y^2 =36
Anvisha [2.4K]

<u>Answer: </u>

The center, vertices and foci of the ellipse with equation 4 x^{2}+9 y^{2}=36 is (0,0),(\pm 3,0),(\pm \sqrt{5}, 0) respectively

<u> Solution: </u>

The equation of ellipse with centre (0, 0) in the form of \frac{x^{2}}{a^{2}}+\frac{y^{2}}{b^{2}}=1   --- eqn 1

Where,

x is the major axis

Centre (0, 0)

Vertices is (\pm \mathrm{a}, 0)

Foci is (\pm \mathrm{c}, 0) where c=\sqrt{a^{2}-b^{2}}

Now given that the equation of ellipse is

4 x^{2}+9 y^{2}=36 --- eqn 2

On dividing equation (2) by 36,

\frac{x^{2}}{9}+\frac{y^{2}}{4}=1

On comparing equations (1) and (2),

We get a = 3, b= 2

c=\sqrt{a^{2}-b^{2}}=\sqrt{9-4}=\sqrt{5}

So centre of \frac{x^{2}}{9}+\frac{y^{2}}{4}=1 is (0, 0)

Vertices of \frac{x^{2}}{9}+\frac{y^{2}}{4}=1 is (\pm 3,0)

Foci of \frac{x^{2}}{9}+\frac{y^{2}}{4}=1 is (\pm \sqrt{5}, 0)
