The Southern farm alliance was known to offer cooperatives to the farmers and was founded in 1880 by farm journalist Milton George. This alliance grew and was a success and its members and supporters started getting elected to government positions.
They also worked for the direct election of Senators in the U.S. Government through various programs and support.
