Political changes that came upon the city-states of the Greek nation led to many unrests and even major political turmoil. While the nobles toppled the kings and took power, the lesser and poorer farmers did not like the rule of these wealthy nobles. This was because of the bad treatment they were given by the nobles when they couldn't pay off their debts. And the loss of their lands further left them with no possession, which is why they did not want the nobles to rule.
On the other hand, the "<em>illegal</em>" citizens like the merchants and the artisans also supported the idea of change in the administration. <u>All these political unrest led to the emergence of some tyrants who began to seize power in some city-states</u>, which is also supported by the common people, rather than have them be under the nobles. This led to the tyrant rule of Greek city-states to about 500 BC.
